DEHRADUN — Responding to the requests of the J&K Students Association, Director-General Police, Law and Order Ashok Kumar Saturday launched a special grievance cell for J&K students and appointed a special nodal officer for addressing issues of Kashmiri students studying in Uttrakhand.

A delegation of the association last week apprised him about various issues of Kashmiri students in the state. In the meeting, the delegation, led by Nasir Khuehami, requested the police chief for setting up a special grievance cell for ensuring safety and security of the students.

Ashok Kumar said that additional superintendent of police (ASP) Mamta Vohra had been designated as the nodal officer for managing the response and redress of complaints of students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir studying in Uttarakhand.

He said that the appointment of a nodal officer for Kashmiri students would give a sense of security and comfort to them. He said that if there was any apprehension or any misconduct towards them, they should contact ASP Vohra for addressing such issues.

Any student or resident of Jammu and Kashmir in Uttarakhand can contact the nodal officer on mobile number 9412029346 or can even reach out on email [email protected]. The number and email will be manned round the clock. Complaints can be directly registered if any J&K student or resident is threatened or harassed in the state. Kumar also gave an assurance to take all possible steps to ensure the students’ safety, and said that he had been closely monitoring the situation.
