Maulana Tariq Jameel Visits Gurdwara in Kartarpur

NEW DELHI — Islamic preacher of global fame Maulana Tariq Jameel visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur on Saturday. He was accompanied by a delegation of religious scholars, according to Pakistani media.

Maulana Jameel, hailing from Punjab province of Pakistan, and his delegation was given warm welcome and received by the head granthi of Gurdwara Sahib, Sardar Gobind Singh, Punjab Assembly Member Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and others.

Kartarpur administration also had made excellent management of foolproof security for the delegation.

Though the purpose of the visit is not known, Maulana Jameel met and interacted with the Sikh pilgrims, who had come to their holy site.

Maulana Tariq Jameel was also given a briefing regarding Kartarpur. He was told that Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion had spent the last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur and that he taught monotheism instead of idolatry.

He was told that Baba Guru Nanak was a proponent of humanity and brotherhood.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Tariq Jameel, according to the Tribune of Pakistan, said that Islam teaches respect for the rights of minorities and their sanctities.

“Kartarpur is the corridor of peace,” he said. “Minorities in Pakistan enjoy full religious freedom.”

However, Maulana Tariq Jameel came under criticism on social media platforms for his visit to Sikh holy place on Sunday, a day after his visit as his pictures were shared on various platforms. Maulana also shared his visit in photos on his twitter account.

The administration of Gurdwara Sahib also gave the visiting Maulana gifts, including Saropa and Kirpan.
