AKOLA —With the expected participation of over 50,000 people, the three-day Tablighi Jamaat ijtema (congregation) began here on Saturday.
Organisers said the participants include Muslims from Maharashtra districts of Akola, Amrauti, Vasham, Baldana, and Ayut Mahal. Besides, a huge number of Muslims from across the country have reached the sprawling assembly hall in Akola, erected on a 160-acre expanse at the western end of Ganga Nagar on Patur Road.
Organisers had prepared extensively for the event, spanning approximately a month. In terms of infrastructure, the organisers have constructed 200 toilets and bathrooms each in the north and south directions. Additionally, 1,200 ablution boxes have been installed in three directions, allowing simultaneous ablution for a large number of attendees. Parking facilities are arranged at a distance from the meeting hall to streamline logistics.
Neighbourhood-wise committees have been tasked with arrangement of various services and facilities during the gathering.
The Ijtema will culminate with a collective prayer on Monday morning.
