Public health researchers asked the minister to present evidence after he asked people to have dark chocolate with 70 per cent cocoa content to beat COVID-19 related stress.

NEW DELHI — On Sunday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan tweeted suggesting a range of foods including dark chocolate to boost immunity and beat Covid stress. He also urged people to have vegetables and fruits to increase their vitamin and mineral content.

The minister tweeted to consume dark chocolate with 70 percent cocoa content to overcome stress. However, Vardhan’s tweet has invited questions from netizens to prove his statement with evidence.

Public health researchers asked him to present evidence after he asked people to have dark chocolate with 70 per cent cocoa content to beat COVID-19 related stress.

According to The Tribune, Anant Bhan, a bioethics researcher who works out of Pune and Bhopal, asked the minister “where is the evidence in COVID context?”

Twitter users in response to Health Minister’s advice also asked if the PDS system range had changed.

“How many people can afford dark chocolates anyway,” Bhan asked with some others demanding that the minister make evidence based statements.
