Danish Siddiqui Foundation Announces Winners of Journalism Scholarship for 2023

NEW DELHI – Danish Siddiqui Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting and advancing journalism education, on Wednesday announced the winners of the Journalism Scholarship for 2023.

The Foundation said the scholarship program was highly competitive, and after careful consideration from more than 400 applicants, Danish Siddiqui Foundation has selected five outstanding journalism students to receive the scholarship.

The Journalism Scholarship aims to support and encourage students who demonstrate a passion for journalism and dedication to excellence in the field. The scholarship program recognizes the importance of quality journalism in a democratic society and supports the next generation of journalists to pursue their academic and professional aspirations.

The winners of the Journalism Scholarship for 2023 are Aman Jaiswal, Aasma Qureshi, Udisha Shrivastav, Umaima Khanam and Rahat Touhid.

“We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Journalism Scholarship for 2023,” said Omar Siddiqui, Trustee at Danish Siddiqui Foundation. “These exceptional students have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, community involvement, and journalistic experience. We believe that they will make a significant contribution to the field of journalism, and we are excited to support them in their academic and professional pursuits.”

Each of the scholarship winners will receive financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to support their education and career development, as well as mentorship and internship opportunities with leading media organizations. The scholarship amount will be credited directly to their account.

“Journalism plays a critical role in our society, and it is essential to support and encourage the next generation of journalists,” said Aliefya Vahanvaty. “We are proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of these scholarship winners and to support them in their academic and professional journey.”

Established in memory of renowned Pulitzer-winning photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2021, the Danish Siddiqui Foundation aims to promote and propagate value-based journalism through various programs and initiatives for students, professionals, and freelancers.
