NEW DELHI — A complaint has been filed with the Bihar Police against a YouTuber for posting offensive Bhojpuri songs interlaced with unsavoury words ridiculing some Islamic practices.

The complaint was filed on Tuesday with the Patna SP by All India Majlis Ittehdul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Aftab Raja against the YouTube channel ‘Bhojpuri Panga’ run by Arjun Ajuba.

“He had uploaded videos which mentions Muslims’ mandatory Juma namaz (Friday noon prayers) and the name of Allah in his obscene songs. This has hurt the sentiments of the entire Muslim community. Therefore, we request you to listen, watch and take appropriate action,” said Raja in his complaint.

Taking to X, AIMIM spokesperson Aadil Hasan said his party has also urged the Bihar government and the state police to take note of these videos. Bihar’s AIMIM president Akhtarul Iman also issued a video statement calling on the government to take immediate action.

For the last few days, social media users have been drawing attention towards these songs. “In Bihar, many Bhojpuri songs are being made to spread hatred agaisnt Islam and Muslims. But Bihar Police have not the courage to arrest such people. Even before this, many times such songs were composed to humiliate Muslims and hurt their religious beliefs, but Bihar Police merely filed an FIR under very lenient sections. If any Muslim youth reacts, Bihar Police will take immediate action,” said a social media user Muhammed Tanveer.

A review of the channel shows that these songs were uploaded weeks ago. The YouTube channel has around 30,000 subscribers and the offensive videos have over 3,00,000 views.

A Facebook account in the name of the YouTuber shows him to be a resident of Bihar’s Siwan district. However, this information is yet to be verified. Some political activists in Siwan have taken up the issue and vowed that they would force the local police to take action against the YouTuber. They said that they have filed a complaint with the local police in this regard.
