SRINAGAR — Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has slammed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday, saying that Kashmiris were paying with blood for her to remain CM and for “PDP & BJP to remain ‘partners in crime’.”

Omar, who is also working president of the main opposition National Conference, was reacting to a tweet by J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti which reads: “the loss of five innocent civilians in Shopian serves as a grim reminder that violence is no solution to the issues that plague us. We all must unite and pull J&K out of this endless nightmare by engaging in sustained and meaningful dialogue.”

Omar Abdullah tweeted:  “Your tweet has a hollow ring to it. At least your brother was more honest than you. This blood is the price Kashmiris are paying for you to remain CM & for PDP & BJP to remain “partners in crime”.

He was referring to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Culture Minister of the state, Tassaduq Mufti’s remarks during an interview with a national daily. In the interview he had expressed a strong objection to the BJP-PDP alliance, stating that both the parties had ended up being partners in a crime (for which) an entire generation of Kashmiris might have to pay with their blood.

Omar Abdullah in another tweet asked the chief minister:  “One question though, as the state Home Minister & head of the Unified Command you have admitted these boys are “innocent civilians” so who will be charged & hanged for their cold blooded murder? Or should I be asking @HMOIndia this question?”.

Meanwhile, the National Conference leaders and supporters on Monday hit the streets in Srinagar against the civilian killings in the valley, reports UNI.
