NEW DELHI — Hindutva group Raksha Dal on Wednesday organised a street march in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh where its members used a speaker mounted over a vehicle to deliver hateful speeches vilifying the Muslim community.
The incident was reported by Hindutva Watch, a research body that monitors hate speeches and attacks on members of religious minorities in India.
The video shows a Hindutva leader exhorting Hindus to be united and fight those involved in the so-called “Love Jihad.” Though the voice in the video is somewhat inaudible, what could easily be discerned is the call for death to some arrested youth, purportedly Muslims, involved in the murder of some Hindu girls who were trapped by them under their “Love Jihad” campaign.
Leaders of Hindutva outfits like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Karni Sena and many other smaller groups, have been unabashedly delivering hate speeches across the country with impunity.
More often it has been seen that the police force present at the events where hate speeches are delivered watch the events merely as bystanders. This is in clear violation of the Supreme Court directive to the police to take cognisance of the matter suo moto and book the hate mongers even if no formal complaint is filed on the issue.
Of late several cases have come to light where Hindutva fanatics have been found to be stoking communal tensions by raising slogans against religious minorities, especially Muslims.
Three incidents of violence have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka in recent days whereby Muslims were assaulted, allegedly due to their religious identity. The incident in Gujarat led to the death of one young man, who left behind a pregnant wife and a young child.
In Jatpur, Uttar Pradesh, members of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal allegedly assaulted an elderly Muslim man who was found with cattle in a nearby jungle and handed him over to the police.
The video of the incident shows an elderly bearded man being harassed by some men in a forest area. He was surrounded by some men and two police personnel were also present and some cattle were around too. The video then cuts to a man chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram”.
In Gujarat’s Godhra city, a young man named Amir Sheikh was allegedly thrashed to death by one Advait Dahyabhai. The beating was so brutal that Amir reportedly lost consciousness and was admitted to a hospital in Vadodara. However, during treatment, his condition worsened, and he succumbed to his injuries. Amir has left behind a pregnant wife and a young child.
