NEW DELHI — In a shocking incident that unfolded on Monday (January 15) in Gangapur in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad District, a peaceful morning of farm work turned into a brutal attack on Mumtaz Harun Qureshi and his brother Nisar. The victims were accused of cow slaughter, leading to a vicious assault that has left the community in shock.
According to police reports, Mumtaz and Nisar were engaged in the traditional ceremony of sowing tar in their field when a group of individuals armed with sticks and rods descended on the farm. The assailants accused the brothers of slaughtering cows and began a merciless assault, media reports reaching here said on Wednesday.
Mumtaz Qureshi bore the brunt of the attack, sustaining blows to his hands, feet, and neck with a wooden stick. Nisar too faced a life-threatening situation as he was struck on the head and shoulder with a bat. The attackers, after committing the crime, hastily fled the scene, leaving the victims in distress.
Upon reaching the farm, a family member, Rehman Qureshi, found both the brothers bleeding profusely. Mumtaz, determined to seek justice, filed a complaint, alleging that a gang had launched a fatal assault on him and his brother. Both victims are currently receiving treatment at Aurangabad Ghati.
