NEW DELHI — Indian Army personnel stormed inside a mosque in Pulwama district of south Kashmir and allegedly forced Muslims to chant “Jai Shri Ram” slogans, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti claimed on Saturday.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief in a tweet said she was shocked to learn that personnel of 50 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army stormed inside a mosque in Pulwama and forced Muslims inside to chant “Jai Shri Ram”.
She added that the attack has come ahead of Amarnath Yatra terming it as an “act of provocation,” media reports said.
“Shocked to hear about army troops from 50 RR storming into a mosque at Pulwama & forcing Muslims inside to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’. Such a move when @AmitShah is here & that too ahead of yatra is simply an act of provocation. Request @RgGhai to immediately set up a probe, (sic)” Mehbooba’s tweet said.
@RgGhai alludes to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Rajiv Ghai.
