MUMBAI — Shiv Sena along with its alliance partners on Saturday approached the Supreme Court of India challenging Maharashtra governor or his “arbitrary and mala fide actions” for installing a minority BJP-led government and sought urgent hearing in the night itself.

They also asked that the floor test be held within 24 hours to thwart horse-trading in the state.

After the Maharashtra Assembly election results were declared the state has been witnessing all not so healthy politics. BJP-Shiv Sena alliance could not move ahead to form the government due to differences on seat sharing which met a dead-end and Shiv Sena said good-bye to BJP alleging the BJP of going back from its promises.

As the new alliance which was reached after much hard work among Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress was in the final stages of consultations to form the government at the earliest, in a late night drama BJP managed to win support of Ajit Pawar to form the government and in the next early morning government was installed and the chief minister and deputy chief minister also took the oath in the Raj Bhavan giving every body a shock.

The BJP, however, succeeded to stick to power in the state opening the floodgates of criticism from every quarter.

Shiv Sena lawyer finally filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a late-night hearing challenging Governor BS Koshyari’s “arbitrary and mala fide actions”.

“The Petitioners are constrained to move the instant Writ Petition under Article 32 of the Constitution in grave urgency seeking reliefs against the arbitrary and malafide actions of the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra who has on 23.11.2019 installed a minority BJP government led by Shri Devendra Fadnavis,” read the writ petition filed by Sena’s lawyers, according to media report.
