NEW DELHI – The Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board has initiated stringent measures against unauthorised construction on the property of Masjid Khujoor Wali (Waqf No. I856), situated at the Gaddi Bazar intersection in Ayodhya.

According to reports received by Clarion India, in a formal communication addressed to the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and Ayodhya Development Authority, the waqf board has urged immediate sealing of shops erected without proper authorisation. Additionally, the board has resolved to deduct the due amount from the remuneration of the president and secretary of the mosque for violating the provisions of the Waqf Act.

The decision came after some locals complained to the board Chairman Ali Zaidi regarding the unauthorised construction and leasing of five shops by the mosque managing committee president Dilawar Hussain and secretary Pervez Hussain. These shops were constructed without the requisite permission from the board, infringing upon the property of Masjid Khujoor Wali.

To assess the situation firsthand, the board dispatched Inspector Muntaraz Mehdi for an on-site inspection. Subsequently, after a thorough examination, Mehdi submitted a comprehensive report to the board, detailing the violations.

Based on the inspection report, the board has directed the District Magistrate and SSP of Ayodhya to take strict legal action against the responsible parties. Furthermore, the board has requested the Ayodhya Development Authority to seal the unauthorised shops.

Chairman Zaidi claims that the president and secretary of the mosque management committee have misappropriated compensation funds received from the government, tarnishing the board’s reputation.

The board affirmed its commitment to uphold the sanctity of Waqf properties and vowed to take further measures to rectify violations and preserve the integrity of religious endowments.
