All-Religion Meet Calls for Peace, Communal Harmony in Deoband


Religious leaders from all communities gather at Jamiat’s Sadhbavna Manch to take a pledge for unity

DEOBAND – A sadbhavna sansad (assembly for goodwill) was organised in Deoband under the Jamiat Sadbhavna Manch in which religious leaders from all religious denominations participated and spoke out for peace, unity, and brotherhood among all sections of society including academics from Islamic seminary, Darul Uloom, Deoband and leaders from Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and Matirpur Bala Sundari Devi Trust.

President Satyendra Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Vinod Prakash Gupta, etc. represented Matirpur Bala Sundari Devi Trust at the sansad.

Speaking on this occasion, Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, general secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind. said Deoband has always given the message of unity, peace, and harmony to the nation. Hence, once again the voice is being raised for the ideals from the seminary with the same spirit to be heard all in the entire country.

At the event, he announced a 12-member committee formed by the Saharanpur unit of the Jamiat. The committee comprises six Muslims and an equal number of non-Muslims, who will work to bridge the gap between the two major communities of the country, namely Muslims and Hindus.

He informed the gathering that the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind was organising a thousand sadbhavna sansads across the country under the patronage of its president, Maulana Mahmood Madani.
Lauding the efforts of Jamiat Ulmai-i-Hind, President of Maatripur Bala Sundari Devi Temple Trust Pandit Satyendra Sharma said by working for peace, brotherhood, and the unity of the country, the organization is pursuing a humanitarian cause. Its efforts have been commendable, only through such interfaith programmes we can bridge the gap between communities and thereby realise the goals of unity and fraternity.

Speaking at the gathering, Maulana Siddikuullah Chaudhary, West Bengal State President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, said Deoband and Jamiat have always played a major role in strengthening brotherhood and unity in the country. The responsibility of carrying forward the legacy now lies on both communities for the betterment of the country.

Maulana Salman Bijnori, Vice-President of the Jamiat, said that it is essential to strengthening secularism. He said some people make efforts to eradicate it, but the country’s majority will not allow this to happen.

SP Dehat Suraj Rai stressed sending out the message of brotherhood. He called it the need of the hour. Such sadbhavna sansads should be organised from time to time to defeat the forces of hate in society. Such programmes, he said go a long way in sustaining the traditional culture of brotherhood in the country.

Maulana Mohammad Madani, general secretary of the Jamiat Ulama Uttar Pradesh, said all Hindus and Muslims should work towards strengthening of peace and brotherhood in the country. He reiterated Jamiat’s commitment to spreading the message of love and brotherhood from the historic land of Deoband.

Among others who spoke at the sansad included Vinod Prakash Gupta, Dr. Pradeep Verma, Deepak Raj Singhal, Ashok Gupta, Dr. DK Jain, Seth, Kuldeep Kumar, Chandan Singh Rana, Vinod Prakash Gupta, Dr. Pradeep Verma, District President Maulana Zahoor Ahmed Qasmi, Convenor Parvinder Kumar, Zaheen Ahmed, and Parvinder Kumar.

Jamiat Ulama Hind District Secretary Maulana Ibrahim Qasmi, Muslim Fund Trust Deoband manager Suhail Siddiqui, Maulana Shamshir Qasmi, Mufti Arif Qasmi, Qari Zubair Ahmed Qasmi, Najam Usmani and a large number of people from both the religious communities attended the sansad.
