NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to accord ‘Y’ category of CRPF security cover to ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri all over the country, sources said on Friday.

According to the sources, the MHA’s decision came after the security threat assessment of Agnihotri by Intelligence and other security agencies, reports IANS.

Under the ‘Y’ category, Agnihotri will get eight CRPF personnel, including one or two commandos, besides police personnel.

There can’t be any doubt over the threat perception of Agnihotri since the MHA has quoted intelligence sources. What’s of concern for the common man is how long the government should be allowed to squander tax payers’ hard earned money on the security of people who have no stake in the nation’s well-being?

How the position of an obscure filmmaker whose credentials lie in low-budget B-grade movies has become so enviable that he is facing threat to his life?

Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir after the militancy’s rise in the valley.

Appreciating the film, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said recently that such movies reveal the truth and claimed that there has been a “conspiracy” to discredit it.

Had Prime Minister Narendra Modi not taken upon himself the task of promoting his film, he would have been passed off as any other filmmaker. Hence, the credit for the promotion of the film and thereby threat to the filmmaker should go to none but Mr. Modi.
