Foolish enemy, unschooled in
Chanakya, declares war;
Smart antagonist holds his
Weak horses back and sends
Unpinnable proxies to spar
Like unseen mosquitoes
Invisibly spread that nonetheless
Draw human blood. Do we not
Wish he would come at us
Like an upright nation, and not
Bleed us thus through proxy
Attrition
But we remember what Chanakya
Taught: most of all learn from
The enemy. Thus we do not
Give formal notice of urgency
But, steady in purpose, practice
A more telling proxy Emergency.
Thus there are no limits
To good governance: chiefly
It involves glossing with nationalist
Smog what may be clear to
Citizens’ patriotic sense.
