MALEGAON – Tension gripped the city as different Muslim sects came face to face over publication of a religious book which hit the stands recently.

The situation reached a critical point, prompting the intervention of Additional Superintendent of Police Ankit Bharti and the local police department.

Representatives of both the sects were summoned by police officials to resolve the issue amicably.

In light of the deteriorating law and order situation, authorities imposed a ban on any further debate or discussion between representatives of both groups. The decision was communicated sternly to both sides, emphasising that no written communication or verbal exchanges would be permitted. The ban extends to social media, where recent posts had fueled the unrest.

The police department issued a warning to individuals, especially those active on social media, stressing the need for cooperation in maintaining law and order.

Attempts to defy the imposed ban or propagate divisive content on social media platforms would be dealt with severely, the police said.

The city officials urged the parties to refrain from engaging in any provocative acts and encouraged citizens to contribute to the restoration of peace and harmony in the city.
