PATNA – Launching a tirade against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) supremo Asaduddin Owaisi sounded the Lok Sabha election bugle in Bihar’s Kishanganj district on Friday.
Simultaneously, Owaisi sought to convey a message to bolster the party’s presence in the state’s Seemanchal region for the assembly elections scheduled in the latter half of next year.
Addressing a mammoth rally, the AIMIM chief didn’t mince words in targeting the chief minister and the Lalu Yadav clan over the defection of four party legislators to the RJD.
Owaisi likened the situation the defection of four MLAs as being ‘eaten as gulab jamuns,’ emphasising the need for accountability and vowing to secure justice through democratic means.
With an eye on strengthening AIMIM’s presence in Bihar, Owaisi announced Akhtarul Iman as the party’s candidate for the Kishanganj Lok Sabha seat.
Owaisi came down heavily on Kumar’s alliance with the BJP. He said it was strange that Kumar, who had previous accused AIMIM to be the ‘B team’ of the BJP, has himself sided with the saffron brigade.
The unexpected large crowd at the rally is being closely observed by political analysts for its potential to reshape Bihar’s electoral dynamics. Owaisi’s focus on garnering support of various communities underscores AIMIM’s broader strategy to contest several assembly seats, including those dominated by Dalit and Muslim populations.
Owaisi emphasised the importance of representation and empowerment, rallying support for Akhtarul Iman’s candidacy and pledging to uphold the interests of the people of Seemanchal. He reiterated his commitment to combat fraud and to work for progress in Bihar, particularly in marginalised regions.
Owaisi’s proactive engagement in Bihar’s political landscape aligns with the party’s broader strategy to assert its relevance and influence in regions beyond its Hyderabad stronghold. By eyeing Bihar’s Seemanchal region for expansion, AIMIM aims to tap into the socio-political dynamics of the area, where issues of identity, representation, and development hold significant importance.
With Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, Owaisi’s rally signifies the onset of an intense electoral battle, with AIMIM positioning itself as a key player in Bihar’s political arena.”
