NEW DELHI – On the occasion of National Youth Day, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday staged a protest outside the Agriculture Ministry by polishing shoes and selling vegetables.
About 100 NSUI activists led by Delhi in-charge, Vinod Jakhar and Delhi State President, Akshay Lakhra assembled outside Krishi Bhawan demanding the rights of the youth and the farmers regarding unemployment.
Speaking to mediapersons, NSUI national secretary Lokesh Chugh said that thousands of farmers are sitting on protest in this bone-chilling weather at several borders of the national capital for last 48 days.
“The protest was carried out to display solidarity by doing shoe polishing work and by selling vegetables. This is how NSUI tried to carry out a symbolic protest to remind this adamant government that they need to turn up for the youth,” Chugh said.
According to NSUI President Neeraj Kundan, not only is the youth facing an unemployment crisis but our annadatas are also unemployed and have been protesting for their rights.
