BENGALURU – In a startling turn of events in Gadag district, Karnataka, a 33-year-old Muslim man, Tajuddin Dafedar, finds himself at the center of controversy as he faces accusations of creating and circulating a manipulated image depicting Muslim flags allegedly flying over the recently inaugurated Ram Temple in Ayodhya. However, Dafedar maintains his innocence in what appears to be a case of misunderstanding.
Pro-Hindu groups brought the matter to the police, claiming the image was an intentional act to provoke religious sentiments. In response, a protest was organized on sunday, urging the arrest of Tajuddin Dafedar.
Inspector Somana Gowda from Gajendragad police station explained, “Upon receiving the complaint, we took prompt action and arrested Tajuddin Dafedar. He has been booked under IPC sections 295A (malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings) and 153A (promoting enmity between groups).” Dafedar was subsequently remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
However, Dafedar maintains that the image was manipulated without his knowledge and shared without malicious intent. He asserts that he is being wrongly accused and expresses concern about the impact this incident has had on his reputation within the community.
The police, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, acted swiftly to delete the contentious post. The manipulated image, shared widely on social media, had sparked tensions, leading to demands for legal action against Dafedar.
Pro-Hindu organizations have called for a thorough investigation into the matter, seeking justice for the alleged offense. In the meantime, Dafedar’s family and community members are rallying behind him, vouching for his innocence.
