Muslim Beggars, Street Vendor Harassed in Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI — Uttar Pradesh Police has reportedly arrested one man after a video went viral showing a few locals harrasing Muslim street beggars donning green turbans and shawls. They forced the beggars to do sit ups and chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

An NDTV report said the incident took place in Degur village in Gonda area.

“They wear the clothes of sadhus but they will eat biryani with this money,” one of the harassers is heard saying.

Another man is carrying a large stick as he demands identification from beggars. Unable to show any cars, he calls them “jihadis” and “terrorists”.

“Just show us your Aadhaar, or we will thrash the stuffing out of you… All of you are terrorists… Carry your Aadhaar at all times,” he says, according to NDTV.

The news channel reported that one of the men who harassed the beggars has been arrested.

In a separate incident, a man namely Tushar Shukla can be seen in a viral video harassing a Muslim shopkeeper in an attempt to stop him from selling clothes by the road.

Shuka is said to be the Yuva Morcha president of the ‘Hindu Coordination Committee’.

When the video went viral, Kanpur Police posted a tweet claiming they have nabbed Shukla.
