Rattled by the strong comments from Rahul Gandhi over the Alwar lynching, BJP has called him “Merchant of Hate”.

NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed the BJP government following reports that the Rajasthan police allegedly took three hours to take Alwar mob lynching victim Akbar Khan to the hospital as they took a tea-break enroute and also thrashed him at the police station.
Rahul said the latest lynching incident in Rajasthan’s Alwar represents Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “brutal New India”. The incident occurred Friday night.
The ‘New India,’ the Congress chief alleged, is where “humanity is replaced with hatred and people are crushed and left to die.”
“Policemen in Alwar took three hours to get a dying Rakbar Khan, the victim of a lynch mob, to a hospital just six km away. Why? They took a tea-break en route. This is Modi’s brutal ‘New India,” Gandhi said in a tweet, attaching a news report.

Gandhi’s remarks came soon after a news report claimed that the policemen, before taking the lynch victim to the hospital, stopped to take some refreshment.
28-year-old Akbar Khan, a resident of Kolgaon in Haryana, was beaten to death by cow vigilantes on Friday on suspicion of cow smuggling.
Khan and another man were taking two cows to their village through a forest area near Lalawandi village in Alwar district Friday night, when a group of people severely thrashed Khan, according to police.
A profusely bleeding Akbar was taken to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.
The other man with Khan managed to escape.
The innocent life could have been saved if the brutally injured Akbar Khan had not been kept in Police custody for 4 hours while the hospital is at stone’s throw from the police station.
More shocking is the claim of an eyewitness that she saw the police beating the injured man in the police van.
According to NDTV news channel, the First Information Report in the case shows the police got a call about the incident at 12.41 am. They reached at 1.15 or 1.20 am, Naval Kishore, a right-wing supporter who made the call, told NDTV. According to Mr Kishore, who accompanied the police, the cops gave the injured man a bath, since he was covered in mud, and then took off to run errands. Their first stop was Mr Kishore’s house, to organise transport to ferry the cows to a local cattle shelter.
One of Kishore’s relatives, Maya, told NDTV that she saw “a policeman beating the man inside the vehicle and abusing him.” Asked if the man was still alive, she said yes.”
Meanwhile, following the strong comments from Rahul Gandhi over the Alwar lynching, BJP has called him “Merchant of Hate”.
Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal commented on the tweet of Rahul Gandhi: “Stop jumping with joy every time a crime happens, Mr Rahul Gandhi. The state has already assured strict & prompt action. You divide the society in every manner possible for electoral gains & then shed crocodile tears. Enough is Enough. You are a MERCHANT OF HATE.”
