Lawyer claims guards fired in self-defence during the attack on the institute; Police continue investigation after FIR named the famous educator
PATNA — Well-known educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, will not surrender before the Patna Civil Court in connection with the recent firing and vandalism case linked to his coaching institute, according to his lawyer. Instead, he is preparing to seek anticipatory bail and contest the allegations through legal channels.
The development comes days after a dispute at Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna led to the registration of a police case and the arrest of two security guards seen in a viral video allegedly firing shots in the air.
Speaking to the media, Khan Sir’s lawyer, Arvind Kumar, said his client had no plans to surrender and would approach the court for anticipatory bail.
“Khan Sir will not surrender. We are taking the legal route and will seek anticipatory bail from the court,” Kumar said.
The lawyer claimed that the case against Khan Sir was filed as part of a conspiracy to damage his reputation. According to him, the controversy is linked to an earlier complaint lodged by staff members of Khan Global Studies Institute against the director of another coaching institution on 2 June.
“After a case was filed by our side on 2 June, an attempt has now been made to drag Khan Sir into this matter. The allegations are politically and personally motivated,” he said.
Addressing the firing incident, Kumar maintained that the security personnel acted in self-defence when a group allegedly attacked the coaching centre.
“Some people entered the premises, damaged property and created chaos. The guards fired in the air only to protect themselves and the institute. No one was hit by a bullet and nobody suffered any gunshot injury,” he said.
According to information available so far, the controversy began on the night of 2 June when a group of around 15 to 20 unidentified individuals allegedly attacked Khan Global Studies Institute in Bihar’s capital city.
The attackers are accused of vandalising property and pelting stones at the coaching centre. The incident created panic in the area and drew widespread attention on social media.
Soon afterwards, a video began circulating online showing two security guards at the institute allegedly firing shots into the air. The footage prompted police action, and both guards were later taken into custody.
Police subsequently registered a case and included Khan Sir among the accused. Reports indicate that the FIR contains serious charges, including attempted murder and provisions of the Arms Act.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma had earlier confirmed that an FIR had been registered against Faisal Khan.
“The case has been registered and police will question Khan Sir as part of the investigation,” the SSP said.
Police have not publicly disclosed the complete list of sections under which the case has been registered. Officials have said that the investigation is continuing and that all aspects of the incident are being examined.
The incident has triggered a fresh dispute within Patna’s competitive coaching industry, with both sides making serious allegations against each other.
Khan Sir has alleged that people linked to a rival coaching institution were behind the attack on his institute.
On the other hand, representatives of another coaching organisation have rejected the allegation. During a press conference, they claimed that the entire episode was orchestrated by Khan Sir himself for publicity or other purposes.
Those allegations have been strongly denied by Khan Sir’s supporters and legal team.
With Khan Sir now planning to move for anticipatory bail, attention will shift to the courts as the legal process moves forward. The case is likely to see arguments from both sides regarding the circumstances of the firing, the vandalism allegations and the role of those named in the FIR.
For now, police investigations remain underway, while the coaching teacher’s legal team insists that he has committed no offence and will cooperate with the law while challenging the charges against him.
The incident has attracted significant public attention because of Khan Sir’s large following among students across India. The outcome of the investigation and court proceedings is expected to be closely watched by students, educators and legal observers in the coming weeks.
