BAREILLY – In a shocking incident, the leader of Karni Sena, a group claiming to protect cows, was arrested along with his colleagues for allegedly slaughtering cows. The police laid siege to the Bhojpura area, where the cow slaughter was reported, resulting in a violent confrontation.
According to SI Ranveer Singh of Bhojpura police station, the incident unfolded on Friday night during a routine patrol. An informant reported the illegal slaughter of prohibited animals on the banks of the drain near the Dewar Naya river in Belwa village.
Upon reaching the spot, the police encountered fierce resistance. The alleged cow killers, led by Karni Sena leader, opened fire on the police. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the police managed to apprehend three suspects on the scene. The seized items included cutting weapons, pistols, cartridges, and remains of slaughtered cattle.
During the investigation, the arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Saeed Khan, Devendra Kumar of Izzatnagar, and Akram. The perpetrators revealed that two accomplices, Chand alias Ajay and Rahul Singh, managed to escape with the slaughtered meat.
District President Rahul Singh of Karni Sena has been sacked by the National President Advocate Thakur Yogindersingh Rana in response to the incident. Gauraksha Dal District President Himanshu Patel also accused Rahul Singh and alleged his involvement in cow slaughter.
Himanshu Patel has lodged a complaint on social media, tagging UP Police, IG, Bareilly Police, and DGP. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the motives behind this heinous act. Some speculations suggest a possible link to a previous riot in the area.
It is noteworthy that this incident follows the arrest of several Hindu activists in a separate case involving the desecration of a temple with beef. This earlier incident had led to tensions within the community, with the majority turning against Muslims in Bhark. The authorities are working diligently to address the complexities surrounding these events.
