TIRUCHIRAPPALLI — National President of Indian Union Muslim League K M Kader Mohideen while congratulating Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on his swearing-in ceremony appreciated him for inducting two Muslims into his cabinet, Times of India reported.

In Tamil Nadu, Avadi constituency representative SM Nasar has been given cabinet berth as the minister for milk and dairy development and Gingee constituency MLA Gingee KS Masthan appointed as the minister for minorities’ welfare, refugees and evacuees and walk board.

While hailing Stalin for the decision, Kader Mohideen said it was the former chief minister M Karunanidhi who had given ministerial berth to Muslims in his cabinet making it history.

“Following the footsteps of his father, chief minister Stalin also inducted two Muslims in his cabinet eliciting a huge welcome from the entire Muslim population,” Times of India quoted Mohideen as saying.

Mohideen recalled the period when there was no representation from the Muslim community in the Tamil Nadu cabinet.

Former chief minister K Kamaraj had brought in Muslim representation to the cabinet and it had continued in the Annadurai’s cabinet too, recalled IUML leader.
