Brutal attacks on Gaza have crossed all limits of historical atrocities, event organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind told

NEW DELHI – The cumulative impact of the bombs dropped by Israel on Gaza surpasses that of the infamous bombardment of Nagasaki in Japan. Approximately 40,000 people have been killed, and more than 100,000 are injured. Gaza’s entire infrastructure has been destroyed, with seventy percent of buildings in ruins. Over six hundred mosques have been reduced to rubble, and dozens of churches, including some of the oldest in the world, have been bombed.

The level of brutality Israel has unleashed has crossed all limits. The treatment meted out to the people of Gaza is more dangerous and heartbreaking than even the atrocities the Jews themselves suffered at the hands of Hitler. However, success will ultimately belong to the people of Palestine, and the oppressors will be vanquished, for this is the promise of Allah. The day is not far when Israel will be destroyed, and the land of the prophets will be cleansed of their impure presence.

These views were expressed by the renowned intellectual, researcher, translator of the Holy Quran, and Middle East expert, Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, during a special gathering organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind here on Saturday. The event was centred on the topic: “Present Situation and Future Prospects of Palestine.”

Dr Khan stated that while it is widely said that the people of Palestine and Gaza are weak, the truth is on the contrary. “The real weakness lies with those who remain mere spectators. In reality, the 58 member states of the OIC, representing the Muslim World, are the ones who are weak, having remained silent on this situation. Had any major Muslim country stepped forward, the situation might have been different,” he said.

Dr Khan emphasised the importance of understanding why Israel was established. He stated that it wasn’t created simply because Jews wanted a place to live. “Jews were spread across the world, enjoying many privileges within the Ottoman Empire. They were present in Syria, Palestine, Iraq, West Africa, Europe, and India, holding significant positions globally. However, the West had long perceived the Arab World and Muslim regions as potential threats. Numerous efforts were made to conquer these regions, such as the Crusades and the prolonged battles with the Ottoman Empire, but these attempts were unsuccessful. Napoleon himself invaded Egypt and sought to advance through Palestine to reach Turkey, but he failed. During this time, he besieged the famous city of Acre in Palestine for about six months but was unable to conquer it and eventually retreated, marking the beginning of his decline. During the siege of Acre in 1802, Napoleon wrote letters to the Jews worldwide, urging them to settle in Palestine and serve as a barrier for the West,” he said.

Dr Khan mentioned the Balfour Declaration and explained that it was not solely the ideology of Britain, but almost all the major European countries had issued similar official statements during World War I when the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire seemed imminent. This included Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and others. However, when Palestine was occupied by Great Britain after the war, they completed this project; otherwise, another European country would have done so. Britain disregarded all rules and laws, paving the way for Jewish settlement in Palestine. They granted government land to the Jews for free and allowed them to establish an army called “Haganah” in Palestine, which later became the army of Israel.

Ever since the creation of Israel, it has been the policy of all Western countries to ensure that Israel remains so powerful that all the Arab countries combined cannot defeat it, he said. “The entire West has adhered to a policy of not providing the Arabs with weapons that could pose a threat to Israel. However, the scenario is now changing. Certain developments have arisen that have caused concern for the enemy. In particular, Iran and Turkey have made significant progress in this regard and are now producing some of the best weapons in the world. Additionally, organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas have emerged as formidable forces that are challenging Israel,” he said.

The scholar said Israel and its Western supporters are the real conspirators. “To defame Muslims, they have assigned names to Muslim organisations and institutions that evoke hatred. Those who fought for their rights were labelled as terrorists and fundamentalists. Additionally, they created organisations with fake names and falsely associated them with Muslims to discredit them, using names like Houthi and Al-Qaeda,” he said.

This is the policy of the entire West — they want Israel to become stronger than all the Arab countries, but this is not happening. They do not listen; they break and destroy, and there is hard evidence of this. For instance, there is a telegram from former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, which can still be found on the internet, discussing the necessity of breaking anti-Israeli Arab powers. However, the truth is that they have not fully succeeded in this effort. Even today, these countries stand against Israel. Moreover, powerful new organisations such as Al-Jihad al-Islami, Hezbollah, Hamas, Al-Hashd al-Shaabi, and Lebanon’s Al-Jama’ah al-Islamiyya have emerged, which are not under their control. “Attempts to impose accords have been unsuccessful, and now, years after Gaza’s historic resistance, no one would dare challenge them,” he said.

Dr Khan questioned the whereabouts of the 30,000 Hamas fighters and 10,000 Mujahideen of Al-Jihad al-Islami, pointing out that even the fifth most powerful country in the world, despite receiving full support from many Western countries including the United States, could not defeat Gaza. “The Mujahideen in Gaza have endured for eleven months and have managed to repel Israel. Arab countries have fought numerous wars against Israel, but their large armies have consistently failed, with their conflicts lasting no more than a few days. In contrast, Gaza continues to resist despite widespread destruction,” he said.

There are enough signs, he said, to indicate that the Balfour Declaration may be coming to an end. “Many believe that something new is about to unfold in the region. Israel is experiencing a significant crisis; since last October, at least 500,000 Israelis, including scientists, scholars, and professors, have left the country, impacting its previously enjoyed superiority. Israelis themselves are expressing concerns that the end of Israel is near. Israeli researchers note that none of their governments in history has lasted more than eighty years. There is now a debate in Israel about whether the current government will also fall within this period.”

Israel, established in 1948, will be an 80-year-old entity in 2027.

Dr Khan stated that before October 7, 2024, no one could have imagined that Hamas would withstand such a prolonged confrontation with Israel. Yet, Hamas continues to fight strongly, while Israel has engaged in acts of vandalism and massacre, likened to the behaviour of mad dogs. This has led most of the world and nearly the entire global population to turn against Israel and the International Court of Justice has ruled against Israel. In Western countries alone, approximately 15,000 public protests have occurred and are still ongoing. Protests against Israel and its endorsement by the US are continuing at 44 American universities. People everywhere are calling for an end to the violence. Among those opposing Israel are many countries in Africa and South America; some have severed diplomatic relations with Israel, while others have recalled their ambassadors.

Dr Khan remarked that the situation has reached a point where Israel can no longer ignore international public opinion. Today, Israel finds itself isolated. It has lost the war and is attempting to turn this defeat into a victory by drawing the United States more directly into the conflict. However, the United States has made it clear that it will defend Israel but will not participate in attacks against others. In America, this issue has become a significant political agenda, and Israel is no longer receiving the same level of approval as before. Currently, no government in the world supports Israel apart from the United States. Reports suggest that a government like Donald Trump’s is unlikely to be formed, largely due to the situation in Gaza, as voters are reluctant to support candidates who unconditionally back Israel.

Referring to the future, Dr Khan stated that soon the Palestinians will achieve complete victory. He referenced the Holy Quran (Surah Israa, verses 4-8), which mentions that God gave three opportunities to the Children of Israel throughout history. They were destroyed twice before due to their insurgency: first by Nebuchadnezzar in 597 BC and then by the Roman general Titus in 70 AD. “Allah Almighty warned them that if they crossed all limits of disobedience again, they would face similar consequences for a third time. Given the barbarity and defiance exhibited by Israelis in Gaza over the past eleven months, it seems that the time for divine punishment has arrived, and they may not be allowed to thrive in the world again. Signs indicate that the third downfall of Israel is imminent,” he concluded.
