SRINAGAR (IANS) — Kashmiri separatists on Monday accused the Indian government of pushing the youth to the wall, leaving them with little option but to take resort to violence.

A statement issued by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir was worrisome.

“Innocent people are detained on frivolous charges, kept in different jails… the youth are being pushed to the wall. This undemocratic and inhuman situation cannot be tolerated for long.”

It blamed the “total silence by the World community” of lending a helping hand to the “Indian government and its stooges to commit more human rights violations in Kashmir”.

“Military might or using iron fist policy can never solve the Kashmir problem. It will cause more destruction of life and property, said the JRL statement.
