LUCKNOW — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that Fazil Nagar in Kushinagar district will be renamed Pawagarh.
Fazil Nagar Assembly seat in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh is set to be renamed as Pawagarh. The announcement to this effect was made by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday.
CM Yogi, addressing a gathering in Kushinagar, said that Fazil Nagar would be given a new identity and recognition as Pawagarh, in honour of Jain Tirthankar Lord Mahavir.
The Kushinagar district administration has already sent a proposal for the renaming of the city to the Chief Minister’s office.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said, “A proposal has been sent to rename Fazilnagar as Pawagarh, which will connect the area with the legacy of Lord Mahavir and provide it with global recognition.”
“People from across the country and around the world will visit here, carrying forward the cultural legacy of Pawagarh,” he added.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 278 projects worth over Rs 424 crore in Kushinagar and also distributed certificates, approval letters and cheques to beneficiaries of various schemes. — With inputs from IANS
