KUSHINAGAR – Two Muslim youths were kidnapped and subsequently stripped and beaten up by members of the Hindu Yuva Vahni, a youth organisation wedded to Hindutva ideology.
What has added to the goriness of the incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar District is that the beatings were recorded by the assailants and widely shared on social media platforms.
The troubling cases were brought to light by a local journalist Minhaj Ansari.
He said one of the kidnapped youths was stripped naked and subjected to severe physical abuse, while the other was forced to endure standing in cold water in a pond for long period.
The video has sparked condemnation from various quarters, raising concerns about the safety of minority communities in the region.
After persistent efforts, the local police have registered a complaint against six individuals: Nitin Madhushya, Aditya Singh, Aryan Singh, Arjun, Yuvraj, and Chandan.
Ansari expressed frustration, stating, “Lynching of Muslims has become so easy that any Hindu mob can kill any Muslim at will. Then the police apply light measures, securing bail for the accused, and members of the Hindu organisation welcome them with flowers.”
Shams Tabrez Qasmi, editor of Millat Times, provided additional details, stating that the incident occurred in Rampur village of Ramkola station in Kushinagar. According to Qasmi, the two Muslim youths were held hostage on the road, brutally beaten, stripped, and made to worship in a nearby pond. Also, they were allegedly coerced into raising Hindutva slogans.
Family members of the victims have been vocal in demanding swift and decisive action against the assaulters. The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) and claim to have arrested four individuals connected with the Hindu Yuva Vahni.
Aditya Singh has been identified as the alleged mastermind of the assault.
