NEW DELHI – Members of the Vishwa Hindu Sena, a Hindu right-wing extremist group, shaved off the head of a Nepalese citizen and forced him to chant ‘Oli Down Down’ (Oli Murdabad) and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ near Rajendra Prasad Ganga ghat of the Bhelupur police station in Varanasi on Thursday.
The Varanasi Parliamentary constituency belongs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A video of the bald Nepali is doing the rounds on social media. The ‘shaven head’ was inscribed with ‘Jai Shri Ram’, (Long Live Shri Ram) and the man was forced to shout slogans like ‘Long Live Hindustan’ (Long Live Hindustan).
The incident occurred in the wake of the controversial statement of Napalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in which he claimed that “Lord Rama” belonged to Nepal and the real Ayodhya was in Nepal.
The Police have filed an FIR against Arun Pathak, the leader of the Sena. “No challenge to the law and order is acceptable”, said a top police officer after ordering a probe into the incident, reported an online media portal.
In this matter, Sudhir Jaiswal, Circle officer of Bhelupur, Varanasi Police told Clarion India that cops had arrested four members of the organization–Santosh, Ashish, Amit and Raju Yadav. “Our teams are searching for him”, he added.
Earlier, the Vishwa Hindu Sena had circulated a poster demanding an unconditional apology from the Nepalese Prime Minister on his comment on Rama. “Nepalesse PM Oli must take back his words against Lord Shri Rama. Else, Nepalese citizens residing in India will have to face the consequences,” reads the poster in local language.
A case under IT Act has been registered against Arun Pathak in this regard.
