NEW DELHI — Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi, after party’s rout in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections, feels solace in pushing Rahul Gandhi’s “soft Hindutva” a level ahead conforming to the new social and political order.

Abhishek Singhvi in a tweet has lashed out at National Award-winner Zaira Wasim, 18, for citing her faith to quit Bollywood. She has done a disservice to Muslims, he said.

Dangal girl Zaira Wasim.

Attacking her decision and the reason behind that, Singhvi, in a series of Tweets, targetted Muslims as a whole saying that they considered acting “haram” while according legitimacy to a practice like nikah halala, where Muslim women have to consummate a second marriage before they can remarry their first husband.

Zaira Wasim, who made her debut co-starring with Aamir Khan in the 2016 blockbuster Dangal, has announced her decision to quit acting on June 30 saying she was not happy with the line of work as it interfered with her faith and religion.

In a detailed post on her Facebook page, which she later shared across all social media platforms, the Kashmiri-born Dangal-fame star said she realised “though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here”.
