Chhattisgarh: Vigilantes Assault Truck Drivers Over Alleged Cow Smuggling

NEW DELHI — Two drivers of a truck reportedly transporting cowhide were brutally attacked by a group of self-styled cow vigilantes in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district on December 28. The video of the incident surfaced on social media on January1, 2025. 

The clip reveals the disturbing nature of mob violence carried out by the self-declared cow vigilantes who accused the drivers of being cow smugglers.

As per the reports, the incident occurred when the vigilante groups intercepted the truck, raided it and brutally attacked the drivers.

In the video the perpetrators can be seen dragging the drivers out of the truck and beating them mercilessly on the road. 


Terrified drivers can be seen pleading for mercy with folded hands, and the mob continued to attack and beat the hapeless drivers leaving them severely injured.

The incident, not first of its kind, has sparked outrage and with many demanding justice and action against the culprits. 

Activists and local residents have demanded swift action against the perpetrators, condemning the growing menace of vigilantism in the name of cow protection.
