NEW DELHI— Around a couple of week after a police Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and another youth were killed in Bulandshahr violence, the police has served court notices to 23 accused, including Bajrang Dal’s district convenor Yogesh Raj who is also a worker of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) of BJP to surrender immediately.

The magistrate court has also declared  absconding accused in Bulandshahr violence as proclaimed offenders with warning that their properties will be attached if they don’t surrender within a month.

Police had conducted raids at the residences of all main accused in Bulandshahr but they are still at large. Now, police has got non-bailable warrants against them.

The chief judicial magistrate court issued non-bailable warrant against Yogesh Raj and 26 other key accused in the Bulandshahr violence on Thursday (December 13). While three accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by District Court, rest remain absconding.

“When they remained on the run, police moved the court again and obtained an order to declare them proclaimed offenders. The court’s notice, warning that their properties will be attached if they remain absconding, has been pasted at the houses of all the 23 accused. If they don’t surrender, we will again move court for an order to attach their properties,” said Atul Srivastava, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Bulandshahr, quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

ASP Atul Srivastava is the part of Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is probing the case.

Police pasted the notices on the doors of the accused on Friday. The posters with photographs of the accused with all their detail, have also been pasted at public places in Bulandshahr and neighbouring districts.

On December 3, according to the police, right wing members protesting against an alleged cow slaughter went on a rampage and attacked the Chingrawati police outpost in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. They pelted stones and torched several vehicles. Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, who was posted at Siana Police Station, suffered a fatal gunshot injury in addition to wounds from hard and blunt objects.

Besides Bajrang Dal members, police also booked some members of BJP, VHP and Shiv Sena among total 27 with 60 unnamed for the mob violence. Besides Yogesh Raj, BJYM worker Shikhar Agarwal and BJP IT cell’s convenor in Siyana, Vikrant Tyagi, are among those named. Raj had earlier this month released a video in which he denied the charges.
