PHNOM PENH — Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Jolly was escorted out of the Asia Pacific Summit, 2019 by security on Tuesday as he tried to disrupt the speech on Kashmir by Pakistan’s National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri in Cambodia.

Suri was speaking about Kashmiris’ right to self-determination at the summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia when Jolly got up from his seat and walked in front of the hall saying, “I want to protest.”

In a video circulated on social media, Jolly can be seen escorted out by security personnel when he tries to disrupt the speech of Suri as he was accusing the Indian government of committing human rights violation in the Valley.

Pakistani leader Qasim Suri said: “I want to direct your attention towards the human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir. Almost 100,000 Kashmiris have been martyred and thousands are missing.

“More than 11,000 women have been raped. More than 8,000 unmarked graves have been found [of people] affected by Indian atrocities.”

Jolly objected to Suri’s speech, saying “Kashmir is not the issue of this summit…This is not right.”

The security personnel then grabbed Jolly and took him out of the conference held in Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

India has been maintaining that Kashmir is its internal matter while Pakistan has persistently raised the issue at various international forums, more so after the central government abrogated J&K’s special status on August 5.
