HYDERABAD — The controversial Telangana BJP lawmker T Raja Singh Lodh has tendered his resignation on Sunday night to “act” against cow slaughter in his state on the eve of Eid ul Azha, which falls on Ausust 22 this year.
By giving resignation he wants to save his party from embarrassment.
T Raja, who represents Goshamahal constituency in the assembly, also alleged that his party was not providing any support for ‘gau raksha’ (cow protection).
In his resignation letter, the lawmaker said as part of the Hindu Vahini, his first priority was to protect the Hindu religion.
He also comfortably predicted that about 3,000 cows are going to be slaughtered in the state for Eid ul-Adha next week.
“For me Hindu dharma and cow protection are priorities, and politics comes later. For ‘gau raksha’, I have resigned from the BJP. I brought up the issue in the Assembly many times, but the party did not provide any support,” the BJP lawmaker reportedly said.
“…I and my team of ‘gau rakshaks’ will hit the streets and stop slaughter of cows in the state,” he added.
Raja Singh, who has been booked several times by police for his controversial statements and speeches, also said, “For cow protection…we will kill or we will die. Our aim is to see that cows are not slaughtered,” according to reports.
T Raja Singh is also reported to have said in a video message that he and his team is ready to kill or die to stop cow slaughter during Eid al-Adha in Telangana.
