Both universities have improved their position from last year

NEW DELHI: The Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia are among the top 20 educational institutions in the country, shows the latest ranking of higher educational institutions done by the Union government.
The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru is India’s No. 1 institution in the overall ranking of educational institutions, followed by IIT-Madras and IIT-Mumbai. Jawaharalal Nehru University holds 6th rank.
The National Institution Ranking 2018 was released by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar at the Vigyan Bhawan here on Tuesday.
In the Overall Ranking of top 100 institutions, Aligarh Muslim University is at No. 17 and Jamia Millia Islamia holds 19th position. Compared to the last year ranking, AMU has moved two positions up while Jamia Millia one position. Banaras Hindu University, at No. 9 this year, has also improved its ranking. It was at No. 10 in 2017.
In the ranking of universities, AMU holds 10th position and Jamia Millia 12th position. Jawaharlal Nehru University holds Rank 2.
In country’s top 10 medical institutes, Aligarh Muslim University is at No. 9 while AIIMS, New Delhi is at No. 1
In country’s top 10 faculties of law, Jamia Millia stands at No. 6 while National Law School of India University (Bengaluru) is at No. 1.
In architecture, Jamia Millia holds 8th position.
AMU has one more reason to be happy this year. Its Management faculty has first time entered in the list of top 50 since the government ranking started in 2016.
Couple of years back, AMU alumnus India-born US entrepreneur Frank Islam had donated $2 million to his alma mater to improve its faculty of management.
