NEW DELHI –– Prominent political activist Yogendra Yadav has joined the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and appealed the people to join the campaign to unite the people of India.
On 7 September, Congress started the yatra from Kanayakumari which is also getting the support from the civil society.
The yatra is being described as “a padyatra (march) to unite and strengthen our nation, passing through 12 states, spanning a distance of 3,500 Km over the course of 150 days”.
Talking about the yatra through Facebook live, Yadav said that it’s not just related to the Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Congress’ name will come up and Rahul’s name will be used because the party has launched the campaign. However, the yatra belongs to all.
“This yatra does not belong to one person and party. This yatra was supported by people from all people’s movement. Hundreds of people have supported it. This yatra belongs to all of us,” he said.
He said that the yatra is being started from the south India because it will carry the characteristics of south Indian towards north Indian. These characteristics are social justice, secularism and regional dignity.
He also coined some slogans in this regard. “Wo todenge, hum jodenge”, “Nafrat chodo, Bharat jodo”, “Bharat Jodo ab nara hai, Bhavi itihas hamara hai.
