Demonetisation, GST, Unplanned COVID Lockdown Were Catastrophic Decisions: Mallikarjun Kharge

Date:

NEW DELHI – In a recent tweet, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, blaming him for what he termed as “catastrophic decisions” that have wreaked havoc on the Indian economy and the lives of millions of citizens.

Kharge’s tweet highlighted three key policies of demonetisation, the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and the unplanned COVID-19 lockdown imposed in March 2020, which he says have collectively destroyed families and crippled livelihoods across the nation, Vartha Bharati reported.

Kharge stated, “PM Modi enacted a catastrophe on the Indian Economy through the disastrous decisions of Demonetisation, Flawed GST, and unplanned Covid Lockdown! Destroyed families and wreaked havoc in the lives of crores! No Indian shall ever forgive or forget the Modi Govt for this body-blow dealt on their livelihoods.”

He further alleged that despite extensive efforts by the government to cover up the adverse effects of these policies through substantial spending on public relations, spreading misinformation, and high-decibel propaganda, the truth is inevitably coming to light.

The demonetisation of high-value currency notes was carried out in 2016 while the GST was rolled out in 2017.
