NEW DELHI – In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, 61 orphan daughters from Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh communities were united in matrimony at a mass marriage ceremony held in Tirthraj Machkund Sarovar, Dholpur. Organized by esteemed social worker Anil Agarwal, the event aimed to offer a new beginning to young couples burdened by financial constraints.
The ceremony, which marked the 7th marriage conference orchestrated by Anil Agarwal, brought together couples from diverse backgrounds. According to Agarwal, “This initiative is about more than just weddings; it’s about restoring dignity and hope to these families.”
Among the couples wedded, 46 hailed from Hindu families spanning various castes, while eight couples were from Muslim backgrounds and seven from Sikh communities. Notably, 17 brides were without parents, and 19 lacked brothers, underscoring the event’s significance in supporting vulnerable women.
Anil Agarwal, known for his philanthropic efforts across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, has previously facilitated the marriages of over 450 daughters from disadvantaged backgrounds. Beyond arranging weddings, Agarwal ensures each bride receives essential household items, from electrical appliances to utensils and clothing, to help them start their married lives comfortably.
Reflecting on the emotional farewell to the brides, Agarwal expressed, “It’s a privilege to provide these young women with the means to build their futures. Our work goes beyond mere charity; it’s about empowering each individual with dignity and respect.”
The ceremony also highlighted Agarwal’s commitment to preserving cultural traditions, as weddings were conducted according to Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh customs under one roof. Moreover, he continues to support these families through initiatives like employment opportunities and festive gifts throughout the year.
