‘Will Fight Till My Last Breath to Protect Babasaheb’s Ideals’: Rahul Gandhi

Date:

NEW DELHI — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday paid tribute to B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, asserting that he would “fight with all his strength” to protect the ideals of the Constitution and Ambedkar’s vision of justice, equality, and dignity.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar did not just give us the Constitution; he gave us the dream of a strong India founded on justice, equality, and dignity. But today, certain forces are systematically working to weaken Babasaheb’s legacy and our Constitution – democratic institutions are being hollowed out, rights are being trampled, and the idea of equality is under attack. This country is built on Babasaheb’s ideals – I will fight with all my strength, until my last breath, to protect them. Together, we will bring back to life the India of Baba Saheb’s dreams. Heartfelt wishes to all on Ambedkar Jayanti.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute, describing Ambedkar as the moral and constitutional foundation of India.

In his post, Kharge said Babasaheb was not only the architect of the Constitution but also a relentless champion of liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice. He warned that the Constitution was facing “conspiratorial attacks” and stressed that Ambedkar’s words and warnings remain highly relevant today.

Kharge added that the time calls for courage and conviction to defend every principle enshrined by Ambedkar.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared her tribute, stating that Babasaheb gave every Indian a protective shield in the form of the Constitution, ensuring liberty, equality, justice, and fraternity.

She said Ambedkar brought the issues of deprived sections to the centre of India’s freedom struggle and constitutional framework. Calling for the protection of constitutional values, she said that upholding Ambedkar’s ideas is the true tribute to him.

Across party lines, Congress leaders collectively highlighted Ambedkar’s enduring legacy as the architect of the Constitution and a lifelong advocate for social justice, equal opportunity, and dignity for all citizens. – IANS
