NEW DELHI – A video of the BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri surfaced on social media on Sunday, showing him making insensitive remarks to parents at a school.

“Why did you give birth to children?” the Kalkaji constituency candidate for the upcoming Delhi elections is heard replying in the video when worried parents complain to him about increasing school fees and appeal for his help.

Later, while speaking to reporters, the distressed while visibly angry parents question political parties about their double standards during election times.

“During election time, these politicians appear on our doorsteps requesting to vote for them,” said one parent.

“Should we ask politicians whether to have children or not?” said another parent.

Earlier, during campaigning for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Bidhuri said that he would make the roads of the constituency as smooth as “Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks” if he wins his seat. He also reportedly added: “Lalu Yadav once famously claimed that he would make the roads of Bihar as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks, but he failed to deliver on that promise. I assure you, however, that just as we have transformed the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will ensure that every road in Kalkaji is made as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks.”

Bidhuri is not new to making controversial statements. As a Lok Sabha member, he hurled abuses at Kunwar Danish Ali, MP from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, in September 2023. During a discussion in the Lower House, Bidhuri hit out at Danish Ali repeatedly hurling expletives at him and making Islamophobic remarks.
