There is absolutely no place for terrorism in Islamic teachings, globally recognised principles, and human values, says the AIMPLB resolution
NEW DELHI – Stressing that war was not a solution, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), has urged India and Pakistan to resolve the ongoing conflict through dialogue.
The board, in a special online meeting of its office-bearers on Thursday, emphasised that the two nuclear powers cannot afford a war. The Muslim board’s meeting was convened a day after Operation Sindoor wherein the Indian military targeted militant networks in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The AIMPLB passed a resolution expressing grave concern over the escalating tension at the India-Pakistan border.
The body said it supported “every necessary step taken for the defence and protection of the nation and its people” and added that “the public, political parties, armed forces, and the government” must come together.
“Terrorism and the killing of innocent civilians are a grave concern. There is absolutely no place for terrorism in Islamic teachings, globally recognised principles, and human values,” the board reiterated.
“Therefore, countries should resolve their matters through bilateral dialogues and discussions. War is not a solution to any issue. Especially in the presence of nuclear weapons, India and Pakistan cannot afford a war,” the body’s resolution said.
The board warned that a conflict would lead to immense hardship and suffering for both nations.
While it would continue its campaign against the Waqf Act, the AIMPLB said it has put on hold all its meetings and events for the time being. However, indoor programmes, roundtable meetings, mosque sermons, and press conferences will continue as scheduled.
The AIMPLB has been among the strongest opponents of the Waqf Act and has been undertaking a “Save Waqf” campaign across the country. The first phase of the campaign is set to conclude at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on July 13. – With inputs from Agencies
