NEW DELHI – Concerned at the surge in mob violence cases across the country, a social organisation, Janwadi Lekhak Sangh, organised a sit-in at the district collectorate office in the Uttar Pradesh city of Meerut, recently. The organisation demanded immediate measures to curb the menace and stringent action against the culprits.

The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the President, urging her urgent intervention and strict measures to address the issue, reports reaching here said on Friday.

The demonstrators highlighted the urgent need to address the recent tragic incident in Hathras district, where chaos at a Satsang gathering led to the loss of hundreds of innocent lives. The organisation has appealed for rescue operations and stringent action against those responsible for misleading the public under the guise of religious blessings.

A representative from Janwadi Lekhak Sangh stated, “We demand 20 lakh rupees in compensation and government jobs for family members of those who lost their lives in the Hathras incident. This tragedy could have been prevented with proper oversight and accountability.”

In addition to the specific incident in Hathras, the memorandum addressed the broader issue of mob violence fueled by religious and caste-based hatred. The organisation expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of mob lynching and called for the government to take strict measures to combat religious intolerance and promote communal harmony.

“The government needs to take firm action to end the spread of religious hatred and create an atmosphere of love and unity in the country,” said one of the protestors. “Only then can we prevent such anti-social incidents from occurring.”

The memorandum was officially presented to the President by members of Janwadi Lekhak Sangh through the Meerut district magistrate’s office. The organisation hopes that its appeal will prompt immediate and effective measures to address the root causes of mob violence and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
