NEW DELHI – The Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district arrested a man, Vishal Thakur, for molesting a burqa-clad woman after the cctv footage of the incident went viral on social media.

The viral video shows that the man approached the victim, who was with her mother, touched her inappropriately and then ran away, while the woman cried for help.

After watching the video of the incident, dismayed family members of the victim filed a complaint against Thakur.

An FIR was registered and the police launched a hunt for the culprit, who according to police is a drunkard. After he was arrested, he was made to apologise to the victim.

The Meerut police was lauded for arresting the culprit after taking note of the viral video. However, some people raised questions over the government as to whether it will follow its bulldozer action in this case and demolish the house of the culprit.
