NEW DELHI — A marauding mob of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal reportedly assaulted an elderly Muslim man who was found with cattle in Uttar Pradesh’s Jatpur.

On Tuesday, Hindutva Watch, a Twitter handle which tracks hate crimes and hate speeches, posted a video related to the incident.

“Members of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal assaulted an elderly Muslim man who was found with cattle in a nearby jungle,” it tweeted.

The video shows a number of people armed with sticks surrounding the elderly man while a policeman can also be seen standing nearby. The victim is sitting on the ground holding his head.

Miscreants from Hindutva groups have increasingly been targeting Muslims on one pretext or the other. Often these mobs act as cow vigilantes and take the law into their own hands with impunity. There have been several cases recently when these attacks, on several occasions resulting in the deaths of the victims, occurred in the presence of the police.
