NEW DLEHI – In Aligarh city of Uttar Pradesh, Hindutva groups on Friday took out a march and threatened to resort to violence if the marriage function of an interfaith couple scheduled to be held next week is not stopped by the administration.

The marriage between a Muslim man and Hindu woman is set to be held at Hotel Abha Grand in the city on December 21. Hindutva leaders started agitating a week before as the wedding card of the function is going viral on social media.

Talking to the reporters, Hindutva leader Thakur Jani Singh said they will vandalise the hotel where the function is to be held if the marriage is not stopped.

“All Hindutva organisations and members of Akhil Bharatiya Karni Sena are prepared. If this function is held, we will destroy everything. Whether we have to vandalise the hotel, challenge the administration to do anything, we will not stop. We will stop this function at any cost. We will not let this happen under any circumstances,” said Singh, who is the state president of the Akhil Bharatiya Karni Sena.

Calling the marriage “Love Jihad”, he claimed that Hindus are being challenged through this marriage between Muslim man and Hindu woman.

Another Hindutva leader threatened administrative officials to disturb the peace of the area if the function is allowed to be held.

“I appeal to the administration that the function being held on December 21 should not be held at any cost. If the function is allowed to happen, it will not be Hindu society but the administration will be responsible for the breakdown of the peace as a result of holding the function. You will be responsible,” said the Hindutva leader addressing the officials.

The officials did not make any statement in this regard.

A delegation led by the Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former mayor Shakuntala Bharati also submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding to stop the interfaith function.

The memorandum warned that an untoward incident could happen as Hindu community is angry over the function.
