Police investigate violent clash between two groups following a dispute between children

MORADABAD – A disturbing video capturing a fierce fight inside the Badi Masjid of Umri Sabjipur village, located in the Pakbara police station area of Moradabad, has gone viral on social media. The video shows two groups of worshippers engaging in a violent altercation, using belts, and sticks, and even tearing each other’s clothes.
The brawl which occurred last Friday reportedly began with a minor dispute between two children. The issue quickly escalated into a full-blown free-for-all fight involving adults. As tensions flared, the mosque, a place of worship and peace, turned into an arena of chaos. The video shows the worshippers attacking each other with whatever they could lay their hands on — belts, sticks, and rods — while others looked on, seemingly helpless.
“People had come to offer prayers, but it’s shocking to see how quickly a sacred space was turned into a battleground,” said an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous. “No one stepped in to stop the fight, and it just kept getting worse.”
The local police have taken notice of the situation, with a case being registered at the Pakbara police station. Superintendent of Police Kunwar Ranvijay Singh confirmed that a complaint had been filed by the party injured in the fight, leading to legal action against nine individuals. “We are investigating the matter thoroughly to understand the cause and ensure justice is served,” said Singh.
The incident has left the community in shock, as such violence within a mosque is unprecedented. The video, which continues to circulate widely, shows the extent of the injuries, with over a dozen people, including two children, sustaining injuries.
Authorities are urging the public to remain calm as the investigation continues. The clash, which began as a minor disagreement between children, highlights the dangers of unresolved conflicts spiralling out of control.
The police have promised swift action against those responsible, hoping to restore peace in the area and prevent further incidents of this nature.
