NEW DELHI – An uneasy calm prevails in the Daulatabad mandal of Telangana’s Sangareddy district after violence during a procession honouring the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Senior police officials are camping in the area to avert any untoward incident after a shoe was allegedly flung at the procession, leading to disturbance in the area, reports reaching here said on Wednesday.

However, concerns are being raised as no action has still been taken against those responsible for damaging Muslim-owned properties. Two Muslim youths have been booked and taken into custody.

The police transferred the victims from Daulatabad to other locations under their supervision on Tuesday night.

Sources suggest that the Daulatabad riot may not have been part of a deliberate conspiracy but targeted individuals based on their social media activities and posts in favour of the demolished Babri Masjid on whose ruins the Ram Temple has come up in Ayodha.
Notably, the attack on the house of Majid Ali highlighted a division between local and non-local miscreants, challenging the Hindu-Muslim unity in Daulatabad.

The local community, determined to prevent political exploitation of the issue, has initiated talks for peace among themselves. Local Hindus and Muslims in Daulatabad have unanimously decided not to involve outsiders in these discussions.

The incident involving a 5-year-old Muslim boy during the communal tension exemplifies the resilience of the community. Accused of throwing a shoe, miscreants barged into his house, assaulted his parents, and dragged the child outside. Miscreants also burnt the fruit shop belonging to the family. An earth mover at the location was also vandalised.

While the local community seeks a peaceful resolution, concerns linger about potential attempts to further vitiate the environment in Daulatabad. The government is urged to take swift action to control the situation and preserve harmony.
