ABU DHABI — The UAE has reacted to the developments in the sub-continent, in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 and reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir amid complete clampdown in the state by the Modi government, calling all parties to exercise restraint over the Kashmir dispute.

The UAE has said that it is monitoring with concern the developments in Jammu and Kashmir, and is calling for all parties in the conflict to exercise restraint, the national news agency of the UAE, Wam reported on Thursday.

Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, stressed on “the need to use dialogue for maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region,” according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Thursday.

Gargash also expressed the UAE’s confidence in the wisdom of the leaderships of both India and Pakistan and their ability to “overcome this crisis through communication and constructive dialogue, away from escalation and confrontation.”
