NEW DELHI — A Muslim student in Telangana’s Wanaparthy District was brutally assaulted by some Hindutva elements recently. The victim, a first-year diploma pharmacy student, was on his way to a local mosque from his hostel. He was waylaid by the Hindutva gang after the latter established the Muslim identity of the victim.
The assailants ripped off the Muslim student’s cap and subjected him to a merciless beating, leaving him injured and bleeding profusely, reports reaching here said on Friday.
In a stroke of luck, the victim managed to contact his college friends and the imam of the mosque for help, prompting the attackers to flee the scene. Fellow students and the imam promptly arranged for his transfer to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.
Police authorities have registered a case against unidentified attackers, pledging a thorough investigation into the matter. Expressing concern over the incident, a senior police official assured the public of stringent action against the perpetrators.
