Sonia Gandhi Asks Congress to ‘Aggressively’ Raise CAA, NRC in Budget Session

NEW DELHI — Sonia Gandhi, the Congress matriarch, urged the party leaders on Monday to raise the issue of CAA, NRC and NPR aggressively in order to counter the government in the next Budget Session starting from January 31.

The direction were issued to the top leadership during a party meeting held at her residence to discuss the ways to highlight the issue of CAA, NRC and NPR in the upcoming session.

According to reports, the meeting was attended by party top brass including former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, Anand Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, K C Venugopal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and K Suresh.

Speaking with media after the meeting, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury , the party leader in Lok Sabha, said that they will fight against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and raise the economic downturn and other issues concerning the common man.

The Congress is planing to hold a meeting of opposition parties to chalk out a joint strategy against the issues that have triggered nationwide anger ahead of the Parliament session.
